Service Provider Negligence
Recently, we were engaged to examine a tractor involving a passenger compartment fire. After examining the exterior of the vehicle, we were able to confirm the fire initiated in the cab. Upon further scrutiny, we confirmed the fire initiated in the Power Distribution Box (PDB) and was caused by incorrectly tightening of the positive terminal after the service provider had installed an appliance inside the vehicle. Once we completed our examination, we spoke to the service provider who confirmed they had removed the connector but were unaware of the torque necessary for ensuring there was no resistance heating at the connection, which was the cause of the fire. Our client informed us that our report was detailed and thorough and the best report they had seen.
